Portable, playful and graspable home based acquired brain injury rehabilitation
EDNA
EDNA is an award-winning digital therapeutic application designed for patients with acquired brain injury where therapy is reimagined as a playful physical activity. Portable and self-guided, patients can complete engaging, meaningful intensive therapy in the home to accelerate recovery. Using handheld graspable tools, the activities assist patients to regain motor, cognitive and functional ability.
Performance data is collected online, allowing therapists to remotely review progress, monitor recovery and customise treatment.
Brain-injured patients frequently exhibit impaired upper-limb function including reduced range of motion and accuracy of reaching and inability to grasp and lift objects or to perform fine motor movements. The EDNA device caters for this level of disability by providing patients with an intuitive user-centred interface design and goal-directed tasks that affords basic gestural control.
Findings from recent clinical trials showed improvement in upper limb performance two times greater than patients who received conventional therapy. Importantly, patients reported EDNA to be a positive and motivating rehab experience compared to traditional therapy.
